Amabiki Kannon is said to have been founded by Hrin Dokushu-koji in 587, and is now widely known as a sacred site for safe childbirth and child-rearing.
It is one of the foremost temples in the Kanto region, enshrining the Kannon of Longevity (a nationally designated important cultural property) as its principal Buddha.
It is also known as a famous spot for flowers such as cherry blossoms, azaleas, peonies, and hydrangeas, and the hydrangea season is particularly popular.
The photo captures the majestic Niomon Gate at night, lit up alongside hydrangeas (a cultural property designated by Ibaraki Prefecture).
