The Sopwith Camel is one of the best known fighter aircraft of the First World War. Designed to counter superior German aircraft dominating the skies over the Western Front in 1916. The Camel was the first British aircraft to mount twin forward-firing synchronised machine-guns; the hump-shaped faring that housed them provided the Camel with it’s nickname.
