Pacific National is one of Australia’s largest rail freight businesses. Formed in February 2002 as a joint venture between Patrick Corporation and Toll Holdings, it is now a subsidiary of Asciano Limited. The train’s route includes the world’s longest straight stretch of railway track, a 478-kilometre (297 mi) stretch of the Trans-Australian Railway over the Nullarbor Plain.
